Easter Markets

Easter is not far away, and in a country with such strong Christian traditions, it’s not surprising that the people come out in their droves to attend Easter markets. We found a couple of them close to where we were staying, including one in the heart of the Old Town Square. The stalls ranged from food and drinks, to handmade decorated eggs and related Easter crafts, to souvenirs and trinkets.

A blot on all of this, in my opinion, is the presence of a small number of loud, obnoxious all-male groups who appear to be in Prague on beer-drinking tours. Ignoring the friendly vibe of a tourist haven, they march through the streets loudly chanting like a bunch of uneducated yobbos in search of the next pub. Judging from the slogans on their tee-shirts, these appear to be organised drinking tours, and their languages indicate that they are a mix of Czech, German and British groups. Ugh!
