Today, Easter Saturday, is a slow cruising day on the Main River. Later this afternoon we will enter the Rhine en route to Rudesheim. We are passing through a number of small riverside villages and the occasional industrial town. The sun is out once again and the skies are blue and the forests on both sides of the river are a mass of sunlit greenery dotted with the white blossoms every so often.
This place is a haven for birdlife. We’ve seen ducks, egrets, geese, swans, water birds and birds of prey all along this stretch of water. Sometimes it’s difficult to capture them on camera, as the bright sunlight often means I’m looking at a viewfinder that appears totally black, so I just point in the direction, click and hope for the best. Here are some of the birds I’ve seen this morning.
