Our Hop On Hop Off tickets offered the option of a night bus tour, so we had an early dinner and climbed onto the bus at the starting point of the tour, out the front of St Stephen’s Basilica. The tour began at 7pm, just as the light was beginning to dim, and concluded at 9pm.
The tour followed the same route as the day’s tour, with just a few less stops and a shorter amount of wait time at the hilltop Citadel. Buda Castle, the bridges, and the Houses of Parliament were all illuminated with a golden glow, and these landmarks in particular were quite spectacular.
Our driver was kind enough to vary his tour schedule in order that he could drive us right along the opposite river front so that we could have a close up look at the Houses of Parliament. They certainly make a statement.
