The early part of the trip to DaNang was in heavy rain once again. Eventually the rain eased off and we passed through many fishing communities. There were small fish farms and many boats in the waterways to our left as we drove south. We encountered a 6km-long tunnel through the side of a hill, built with the assistance of Japan, just to the north of DaNang. DaNang itself was interesting – a resort town that apparently attracts many people from Japan and Korea, with three golf courses and other tourist attractions. It’s a former US base from the war.
